Need a
Kid Party Game for a Western Birthday party theme ? This is a party activity that will fit in perfectly.

PONY EXPRESS:

  • Divide your birthday party guests into two equal teams. Each team starts with a pony (on a stick), a saddle (beach ball), a mail pouch (back pack) and a hat. They must
transfer all items to the next member once they have run their route. They must complete their run with the beach ball between their knees, hat on the head, be on their horse, and of course carry the overland Express mail pouch. Should the horse hit the ground it is considered
dead and they must start again. The pouch (empty or full) must be carried and not strapped on to the horse. First team to complete the course in this game wins. A kid party game that really tests a skilled Pony Express rider.

This kid party game will fit most party criteria.

    AIR BALLOONS:

  • Blow some balloons up for this kid party game. Get into a circle and start the balloon going around from player to player, keeping the balloon in the air at all times. The kids will enjoy seeing if they can keep the balloon moving for the entire time it takes to sing a song, or listen to a piece of music.

Having a water related theme birthday party? This kid party game will fit right in.

    FISH STORY:

  • Attach a paper clip to a
    plastic fish
and put them in a tub of water. This can be done by threading one end of the clip through a fin or the body. Make a fishing rod by attaching a magnet to a string and
tying the string to a pole. Each child gets a chance to hook a fish. Paint colored dots on the fish with certain colors tied to special prizes. For example, fish with green dots might get to keep the fish they caught. Orange dots win candy bars, and a very special red dot wins the special kid game prize.

This kid party game is fantastic for a variety of kid parties.

    BALLOON POP:

  • Place notes inside balloons. One or two of the notes should indicate that this balloon is a prize winner. Inflate the balloons and hang them around the party area, or hide them around the house and yard. Tell each child to go find a balloon, and then one at a time, pop them with a pin to see if their balloon is a winner. Have some small prizes for these party game winners.

This is cool outside kid party game.

    BALLOON RELAY:

  • Divide the children into two or more equal teams and stand them in a line. Give each team eight to ten balloons in a plastic bag. The first kid in each line takes a balloon and runs to the other side of the room/yard/or party area and sits, or stomps on the balloon to pop it. After popping the balloon they run back to the line and tag the next person who does the same thing. The game goes on until one team has popped all of their balloons. The winning team gets a small prize (like a medal) while the rest of your party guests gets a small toy or candy prize.

Here is a classic kid game for Halloween everyone loves, and the adults might even want to get in on. A wet kid party idea.

    BOBBING FOR APPLES:

  • A

    Halloween
favorite kid game of all children. Fill a small tub with water about 5 inches deep, not too cold, not too hot. Add apples, enough for each player. Have all the other players count to 10 and yell out “Dunk away”! The player tries grabbing an apple with only their teeth. If they get one they can eat it or use it to make a carmeled apple with. You can make this even more challenging by removing the apple stems! You can also use other fruits which float (try oranges or peaches).

This kid party game is so cute to watch, and one of my very favorites.

    BUBBLE WALK:

  • Take a length of bubble wrap packaging material (available from any office supply store). The length should be around 4-5 feet long. The players take turns walking the length of the bubble wrap. The first
one to walk the entire length without popping any bubbles is the winner of this kid party game. This game is not only fun, but a mental challenge too, as someone always finds a way of outsmarting the others.

Here is a very clean kid party activity.

    CREATE A BUBBLE:

  • Mix two tablespoons of liquid detergent and about 1 cup of water. The ideal mix depends on the container so feel free to experiment beforehand. Pour the ingredients into a couple of pie pans. Choose one player to act as judge and timekeeper. Set a time frame for each round. 15 seconds is a good amount. Start the clock. Use the bubble hoops to dip into the soap and have the party kids blow bubbles. The participant who can make the biggest bubble wins. You can have a single elimination bubble blowing tournament by pairing off players in groups of two and having multiple rounds until you have the
grand master bubble blower! A grand party game I might say.

This kid party game is a little more challenging than it sounds.

    BALLOON BURST OFF:

  • Pick teams of two. Have the pairs stand in a line, back to back, with a balloon held between their backs. On signal, they should press together and try to burst the balloon. The first team to pop its balloon wins. If you prefer not to have ‘winners’ then just play until all balloons are popped. All the kids will have a blast with this party game.

Watching the kids make animal sounds and goofy faces is a hoot with this kid party game.

    CHARADES FOR KIDS:

  • Start by collecting pictures of animals or favorite cartoon characters. Cut them out if necessary and place the pictures into
the hat or bowl and toss them around to mix them up. Have one player pick a picture out of the hat or bowl but not show it to anyone. Then, that child gets to pretend to be that animal or cartoon character in this kid party game. The rest of the players guess who the child is pretending to be. Then, it’s the next child’s turn! A kid party game that will bring out the creativity of your birthday party guests.

This party game is rather challenging.

    COTTON BALL RELAY:

  • Determine a starting line and a turn around line about 15 feet apart. Divide your party guests into two even teams and have them line up at the start line. Put cotton balls for each player in a bowl at the start line. Place the empty bowls at the turn back line. Say Go!. Each player uses the spoon to scoop a cotton ball from the bowl and then walk (or run) to the other bowl and drop it in. If they drop it along the way they don’t pick it up. Instead they return to the bowl and get another cotton ball (you’ll want to have at least 2 cotton balls for each player just in case they all drop a few). After they’ve completed the task successfully, they race back to the line and hand the spoon to the next person. The race continues until one team wins. To be more challenging try having the players use their other hand, or to be even more challenging, have them pick up a cotton ball with the spoon in their hand and then put the end of the spoon in their mouthh, carry and drop it in the other bowl with no hands (hands can only be used for scooping up a cotton ball). A down to earth, cotton pickin kid party game.

This kid game will burn off a little of the kids energy.

    DRAGON TAIL TAG:

  • Make small chains of about four to six people. Either have team members hold on to each others waists, or link elbows. Members of the chains cannot let go! The end person has a flag or tail (bandana) hanging behind them or tucked in their back pocket. The object is to have the head of each chain (the dragon’s head) get the flag, scarf or whatever from the other team while staying linked. Both teams attempt to do this at the same time. When one team manages to get the flag. The losing team rotates and the head moves to the back while everyone else moves forward. This kid game will work up an appetite for your birthday party guests in a short time.

A kid party game dressed to the nines ?

    DRESS UP RELAY:

  • Gather up two hats, two pairs of large pants, two pairs of large shoes, two pairs of sunglasses, two wigs (optional), two ties (already knotted) and two small suit cases. Determine a starting line and a turn back line about 15 feet apart. Place each set of clothes in a separate suitcase. Place the suitcases at the start lines. Divide the players into two small groups and line them up at the start line. Blow the whistle or say go! The first players in each line opens the suitcase and puts on the clothes. They then shut the suit case and run to the turn back line and then stop, take off the clothes, put them back in the suitcase and carry the suitcase back to the start line where the process starts all over again with the next person. The
first team to be done wins. Variation for this kid party game: You can add more clothes to the list to make it funnier. For example, add a walking cane, a slip, some socks, a hat, a purse etc. A great kid party idea indeed.

A tasty party game I might say.

    FRUIT ROLL UP RACE:

  • Unwrap and unroll the appropriate number of fruit roll ups. Attach one end with a clothespin to a rope that is strung at approximately eye-level to the players. Have the players stand with their hands behind their backs. At the go signal, players start to eat the fruit roll up from the bottom. First one to the clothespin wins. A party game especially designed for the kids with a sweet tooth.

    A colorful party game.

    LIFESAVER RACE:

  • First divide your group into two teams. Each team will need to be lined up facing the forward. Then take a bunch of toothpicks and give each player one. The player at the beginning of the line gets the
lifesaver. Before you begin, everybody puts the toothpicks into their mouth and then the captain (first person in each line) puts a lifesaver on his/her toothpick. The object is to pass the lifesaver from team member to team member using only the toothpick, no hands allowed! The first team to pass it down to the end of the line wins. If the lifesaver falls on the floor then you must start at the beginning again. This kid party game needs a time limit if older kids are playing. Know what I mean?

A chin to chin kid party game.

    PASS THE ORANGE:

  • Arrange for teams of about 8 to stand in a line, one behind the other (arranged boy, girl, boy, girl etc.). Give each team an orange which the first person should tuck under his chin. They pass the orange
to the next persons’ chin. When the orange gets to the last person, they come to the front of the line and start again. The winning team is the first one which gets their starting person to the front again first. If an orange is to large for younger kids you can always use a tangerine or tennis ball for this kid party game. Another kid party game where a time limit might be imposed for older kids. Know what I mean ?

A kid party game involving quite a bit of skill.

    PING PONG BALL LABYRINTH:

  • You’ll need a ping pong ball and a cardboard box lid, a shirt box lid is fine. Cut a hole in the center and tape a paper cup under the hole, this will be the target for the ball. Other holes that the ball could drop through should be cut as hazards. Decorate according to holiday or special event with crayons, markers, construction paper, etc. For instance, on Halloween make it a jack-o-lantern. Cut out holes for eyes and mouth large enough for the ball to fall through. To play this kid party game, drop the ping pong ball into the corner of the box and have the party child maneuver the box lid trying to get the ball in a paper cup without letting it fall through any of the other holes. The person with faster time wins! A kid party game of skill for sure.

Kids will need to be on their toes to keep up with this kid party game.

    POPEYE:

  • Divide the group into 3 smaller groups…Betty, Popeye & Wolf. When
you mention “Betty” that group stands up and says: “Boop-Boop-De-Doo” (with hip action). When you mention “Popeye” that group stands up and says: “Well, blow me down” (with arm waving action). When you mention “Wolf” that group stands up and gives a “Wolf Whistle”. Here’s the story to read:

“Once upon a time, there was a charming young lady named BETTY (pause for group action each time you mention Betty, Popeye & Wolf) who was loved by a sailor called POPEYE. BETTY lived near a great forest in
which there roamed a big WOLF. One day BETTY decided to visit her grandmother who lived in the heart of the forest where the WOLF lived, but BETTY would not listen and would not let POPEYE accompany her. Soon the
WOLF followed BETTY, and he crept closer and closer. But, behind him came POPEYE! Just as the WOLF was about to leap on BETTY, POPEYE popped him with his trusty club and saved BETTY’S life. Thus the end of the story of POPEYE, BETTY BOOP and the Big Bad WOLF. A standing ovation for this kid party game.

This kid game brings back memories, but is still a big hit with the kids today.

A RELAY RACE WHERE YOU HAVE A PARTNER, A SACK AND THREE LEGS:

Have the group divide into pairs. Each pair will need a sack or pillowcase. Determine a starting line and a turn back line. Each pair must keep at least one foot inside the sack or pillowcase at all times during the race, therwise they will be disqualified. Each team must figure out the best method to keep the sack or pillowcase on and move quickly. The object of this kid party game is to run as a team to the turn back line and back first. It may help to tie the sacks etc. around people’s legs or you may make the untied sack or whatever part of the kid party game.

Wind up a cool kid party game, with this kid party idea.

    STRING SURPRISE:

  • Great for birthday parties where you want to give each guest a favor. For each child you will need a small block of wood wrapped with a very long (several yards) piece of yarn. Make sure each child has a
different color yarn. Just before the party unwrap the yarn by winding it back and forth, over and under and through the furniture in party room. At the end of each piece of yarn tie a favor. As the guests arrive give them their block and let them wind up the yarn as they follow the string to the favor, starting off your party with a great kid party activity I must say.

    This game just screams,
    “Mummy
    I tied up the kids.”

    TOILET PAPER WRAP:

  • Each child grabs a partner. One kid wraps and one kid is the Statue. Set a time clock to count off seconds. When the time clock starts the wrapper has to completely wrap up their partner from head to toe. It’s harder than you think but also a ton of fun. The first one in this kid party game to wrap up their partner completely, with no body parts showing, wins! One roll of toilet paper per team please. This kid party game is a riot with the kids.
